At Sunsquare, we have been working with a leading UK glass manufacturer to develop a clever alternative to using blinds for skylights.
We are frequently asked for blinds to complement our skylights but, having yet to be convinced by the designs available, we’d like you to offer our customers LCD Switchable glazing.
LCD Switchable Glazing
The newest generation of smart glazing, its impressive technical qualities and design-led features make it a highly innovative addition to any home. It’s the switchable glass of choice for architects, partitioners and interior specialists, creating a more pleasant ambience.
Ideal for diverting levels of natural light away from a room – creating privacy - LCD Switchable can be combined with colour interlayers and a wide range of tinted or patterned glass to meet bespoke requirements. It can even be controlled remotely and is not susceptible to mechanical failure like powered shutters, curtains or blinds.
This intelligent glazing solution can be used in a wide variety of applications, including:
- Corporate offices
- Fire resistant
- Hotels and restaurants
- Hospitals and consultation rooms
- Health and beauty salons
- Retail and leisure
How does the LCD Switchable Glazing technology work?
The LCD Switchable Privacy Film contains two layers of transparent conductive film sandwiched with PDLC material. The film is laminated between two pieces of glass. When electricity is applied to the film the liquid crystals align and the Switchable technology makes the glass transparent.
When the power is turned off, the liquid crystals return to their normal scattering positions and turn the glass from optically clear to opaque.
This development is further proof that Sunsquare is pushing ahead at the cutting edge of glazing technology with the most cost-effective and practical ways of creating the perfect skylight.
