Glazing offers so many contemporary window solutions to suit all redevelopments and new-build projects, but how do you know which one suits your design best?
If you’re interested in specifying any Sunsquare skylights, you’ll need to be aware of the benefits of each and their ideal environments. Let’s take a look at each type of rooflight we offer in a little more detail:
Fixed skylights
For living or working areas requiring abundant natural light without the need for a grand architectural statement, our classic fixed rooflights would seem to be the ideal solution. Our SkyView is supremely sleek, designed to sit straight onto an upstand and encouraging plenty of daylight into interiors. Aesthetically, if your design project is centred around clean, elegant lines then our SkyView would be a stunning choice to enhance your everyday life. In terms of thermal efficiency, fixed rooflights should comfortably surpass Building Regulations. Our SkyView features polyamide insulating sections as thermal breaks, as well as a 28mm argon-filled, soft-coat low-emission insulating glass unit, minimising heat loss and solar gain simultaneously thanks to its toughened outer pane and laminated inner pane for increased safety and security.
Opening skylights
Electronically-operated opening skylights are a traditional skylight with a difference. For interiors that could not only benefit from natural light but ventilation too, an Aero Electric Vent rooflight would be a sensible choice for your design project. Incorporating all the same materials and glazing technology as our fixed SkyView rooflight, the Aero Electric range can open and close of its own accord to a maximum of 400mm via a high-quality concealed opening mechanism.
If you’re not always at home but you’d still like your interiors to benefit from fresh air and natural light, you can pair your opening skylight with an intelligent rain sensor, which triggers the closure of your skylight in wet weather conditions; guaranteeing no nasty puddle surprises on your return home.
You may of course have a flat roof extension that’s crying out for a roof terrace to take full advantage of your property’s panoramic countryside views. If so, our Aero Electric Roof Access skylight can not only provide abundant daylight for your interiors below, it can also act as a direct point of access to your roof space. With an overall opening of 90-degrees, it allows for easy, unrestricted entry and exit from your rooftop area.
Walk-on skylights
For spaces requiring pedestrian access, such as roof terraces or patio areas above subterranean rooms, walk-on rooflights are a fantastic application to provide much-needed natural light into interiors below. Not only are they highly practical, they are aesthetically pleasing too, designed to fit flush to the floor and to handle regular foot traffic.
Did you know? It’s possible to encourage natural light from floors above directly into interiors below using interior walk-on floorlights. This may be particularly useful if you have a bright hallway that’s directly above a subterranean bedroom or basement that could benefit from daylight, breathing new life into the space and making it more useable than ever before.
Our internal walk-on floorlights are built to be regularly walked on, capable of withstanding the weight and pressure of being stood on every day and surpassing Building Regulations standards. You don’t have to settle for just one internal floorlight, you could opt for a multi-panel arrangement that works brilliantly for corridors and hallways with larger floor areas.
Bespoke skylight designs
At Sunsquare, we also appreciate that when you’re redesigning a property or building a completely new one, stock sizes for glazing, doors and all sorts of property features don’t always cut the mustard. That’s why we offer a personal made-to-measure service for clients that want a rooflight that’s entirely bespoke to their project.
