    The Truth Of Online Reviews

The advent of online reviews was a wonderful thing. Seemingly, that is very much a thing of the past. It started with Tripadvisor and spawned a whole generation of food critics.

The advent of online reviews was a wonderful thing. Seemingly, that is very much a thing of the past. It started with Tripadvisor and spawned a whole generation of food critics. Not only that, our desire to review and be reviewed also created the unsavoury world of fake and purchased reviews that seems to be the scourge of the honest business. Restaurants and hospitality businesses were all of a sudden being made or, sadly broken by reviews, often by the competition.

The era of likes and reviews affects us all in one way or another, but it can not only create ill feeling, but mislead terribly. There are companies in the rooflight industry that, for all intents and purposes, look like they are popular and well managed. You would imagine that their stack of twitter and Facebook friends are a sign of good things, until you realise that most of them a Brazilian, a populous that has never even enquired about a skylight to Sunsquare, the market leader, for its entire 15 year global trading history.

Like most industries, things have moved on, and we now have the likes of Trust Pilot and other review sites that can paint a very inaccurate picture of a company for the price of a skylight or two. If one were so motivated, one could smother oneself in glory that is entirely purchased. Potential clients can seemingly gain an impression based on nothing but entire buildings full of paid liars.

There seems to be a glimmer of hope in Google. Whilst Google cannot avoid the fake good reviews, it also has an obligation to post the bad ones too. A fair and equitable way of doing things. Fortunately, despite the best efforts by some to hide the bad reviews by adding fake good ones to lower the bad news further down the pile, they are there. One has to dig a little deeper to find them, but they are there and should be at least read before deciding who puts glass above yours and your children’s heads.

We are enormously proud at Sunsquare to have the best reviews in the Rooflight industry on Google. We are even prouder that it was not even contemplated that we buy our way to success or mislead people with fake reviews. Sadly, that is not the same for all in the rooflight industry.

In the words of Randy Newman….dig a little deeper.

Lowest U-Values in the skylight industry

U-values are touted by companies as a selling point for their products. Until now, all skylight U-values are calculated in exactly the same was as a vertical window, which gives a false reading and misleads the client.
