and our impact

At Sunsquare, we acknowledge the important role we can play in minimising the impact of our operations on the wider environment. A recent evaluation evaluation of our processes concluded that 97% of our waste was able to be recycled or re-used but we are continuing to think of ways to reduce our emissions. Our entire product range is designed using the latest 3D software, allowing us to evaluate a vast array of materials for each product and limit wastage.

In 2015, we were delighted to be awarded the Bronze Level Suffolk Carbon Charter Status which recognises organisations that take their environmental responsibility seriously. We have effective carbon monitoring and reduction plans in please and we reduced our energy emissions by 2% during 2016.

In 2016, we were among the finalists in the Manufacture of the Year category in the Business Green Leaders Awards as a result of our ‘green’ best practice operational standards. We actively endeavour to improve the environmental performance of our business; right down to ensuring the recycling of all raw materials through to LED office lighting.

To continue our commitments throughout 2020 and beyond, we are hoping to crack lean manufacture and six sigma is our goal to ensure that we are efficient as possible both for our productivity and for the environment. We have been working for some time with our suppliers to reduce wastage and have decided that we will only work with people that have an environmental policy similar to ours. Our product is virtually all recyclable and we are now looking at ways of minimising deliveries to our factories to reduce our carbon footprint. We are looking into using electric vehicles for our site teams but we have not yet found a solution that will work for us.
