How we Install a Rooflight

At Sunsquare we are asked about the skylight installation process quite often. We thought we would give our valued clients an insight into how we do it so that an informed decision can be made as to whether it is something they would wish to do themselves or whether they would wish us to do the installation.

We always recommend that our Upstands are used as this not only guarantees the correct fall and size, but guarantees that the skylight will fit, thus avoiding any further expensive roof adjustments. There are competitors out there that include an integral up-stand with their product which means that should the skylight need maintenance at all, the entire roof has to come up around the skylight, which is extremely long-winded and expensive. For us, if there is a problem, it is just a matter of lifting the frame and replacing or repairing. We cannot express enough the value of having one of our early delivery up-stands.

You will note that all of our guys are uniformed and come in company vehicles. We do not subcontract any of our work so that our warranty is offered in confidence. You will also note that in the background are a couple of the Velux solutions to flat roof skylights. Please make your own mind up about who’s look better. Our guys come with all of the relevant equipment and although it may seem an expense, be assured that it is worth it.

On this particular skylight installation, we are showing you the whole process. We are not normally involved in plastering and do not usually glaze the more standard products on site, but this gives you an idea of the process and it’s simplicity due to the fact that our product is made to be user-friendly.
