The BRE Innovation Park promotes innovative, emerging approaches to sustainable low-carbon design and construction. Its remit is to improve the quality buildings and minimise their impact on the wider environment.

Self-guided tours will be offered next week to those interested in viewing a string of test houses, showcasing sustainable buildings, landscape designs and dozens of innovative low-carbon materials and technologies.

More than 100 events are being held throughout the week, which has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund, as well as seven Hertfordshire County Councillors and donations from local residents.

Next week has been chosen for the Sustainable St Albans Week as it is in the run-up to the vitally important Global Climate Conference in Paris, which aims to reach an agreement from all nations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to cap global temperature increase to just two degrees Celsius.

The event is an opportunity for the people of St Albans to demonstrate their care for the environmental sustainability of the city.

The Innovation Park is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, with tours lasting approximately one hour. Last entry to the Park will be allowed at 3pm.

Anyone wishing to book a self-guided tour of the Park can email enquiries@bre.co.uk, quoting “Sustainable St Albans” in their message.

BRE’s Watford Innovation Park is the flagship development of a global network of innovation parks.

Sunsquare is delighted to be one of a select group of partners working with the Watford Innovation Park to improve the built environment.

The company has a permanent display of its world-leading flat roof skylights at the Park, situated outside the visitors’ centre, containing a vast majority of Sunsquare’s BSI Kite Marked range.

The display also features the new weather stationsolar panel and touch screen control panel.

Justin Seldis, managing director, Sunsquare, said: “The BRE is a centre of excellence in innovation of both building design and products.

“The Innovation Park displays the very latest in both sustainable design and products and we are very proud to be part of an amazing wealth of industry knowledge available to professionals and self-builders alike.”
